  • Big thanks to all that came and helped.
  • Total revenue 2017 -$33,984 – expenses not factored in.
  • Total revenue 2016 – $26,547.
  • Was great to engage new and old grade 6 students.
  • Haunted house was new and amazing.
  • Silent Auction Update- Ania, Tanya

 

  • Donations are starting to coming in.
  • Good response from businesses.
  • Sign-up sheets made available to the group for volunteers.
  • Flameless candles, vases and coatracks requested.
  • Consider donating a bottle of wine for wine raffle.
  • Auction open to entire community.
  • Green Team Update

 

  • Assessing interest and introducing some of the initiatives.
  • Why parent council should be involved:
    • Key reason – continuity from one year to the next.
    • Removes labour and cost to enrich curriculum for the kids.
    • Facilitates deep learning for those involved.
    • Brings continuity between home and school communities.
  • Example of a program – Eco Schools Ontario ( ontarioecoschools.org)
    • Involves collecting info about programs run by the school.
    • 6 criteria that make up the eco school.
    • Integrate curriculum of environmental issues with schools.
    • Starts in September and gives the school a rating that will be beneficial for TDSB initiatives.
    • Labour intensive so requires staff and parent support.
    • We can start with assessment of what is already in place and where we can go from there.
    • Kids drive it through various activities.
    • We can start the ball rolling this year and initiative can begin September 2018.
    • Activities based on grade levels.
    • Suggestion to have a green co-chair in the parent council.
    • Can include cost for budgets that are done in January.
  • Snack Survey Results – Karen

 

  • Big response to survey.
  • Results
    • Lots of support for having a snack program not the current morning meal.
    • People want option to opt out.
    • Interest in snacks for kindergarten.
    • Interest in having it every day or 3 times a week.
    • 2 food items requested.

 

  • Construction meeting summary and update – Roy

 

  • Concerns brought forward in terms of pace of work.
  • All rooms at front are done and they are moving along.
  • Seem confident that the work done will keep rooms warm.
  • Construction considerations:
    • Morter has to be removed which is a slow and manual process.
    • Tradespeople work at different times for their tasks.
    • Windows will be back in front classrooms by December.
    • More workers are being put on the job.
    • Message from meeting was relayed effectively to the Project Manager .
    • Much better headway is being made since the meeting.
