Thank you to everyone for your support and contribution to our 3rd annual Silent Auction At Night. We had another amazing evening of tasty food, great deals, and of course, our amazing “house” band: Inflatable, you rocked it!

We want to say a very HUGE thanks to this year’s Co-Chairs: Ania Humphries and Tonia Babstock. It was both Ania and Tonia’s first time organizing the Silent Auction, and they did an incredible job. Thanks to both of you for all of your hard work over the last few months with all of the behind the scene and night of organizing. Of course it takes a village, and we also want to thank all of the parents who volunteered their time soliciting local businesses, inputting all of the donations, decorating and setting up the gym, bringing and organizing the food, and of course, taking everything down at the end of the night.

And finally, thank you to Karen Jordan, Rose-Marie Hall, and all of the staff at Pape School for their support of this event!

Some final housekeeping items on the Silent Auction:

  • Any leftover food trays have all been left on the tables outside of the gym for you to pick up

  • You will be receiving a call this week if you did not have a chance to pick up any items or gift cards that you won during the evening. All outstanding items can be picked up and purchased with Ms. Hall at the school office

  • If you are unable to pick up during office hours and would like to make alternative plans , please email Ania at:

HELP! SILENT AUCTION VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! A HUGE call out for volunteers for the Silent Auction. There are LOTS of vacant positions that we need to fill to make our night a success. We can’t do this without you, please click on the links below to see the openings that still need to be filled:

WINE RAFFLE DONATIONS The raffle relies on wine donations from Pape parents – the more wine we get, the bigger the prize! If you would like to contribute a bottle, please contact Erin Hartnett at mailto:erin@erinhartnett.comor 647-828-8556.

Donations will be collected November 20-23 in the school office.

Last year, our “After Dark” Silent Auction was such a success, we raised over $13,000!

This year, WE once again CHALLENGE each Pape family to come up with at least ONE silent auction item for donation.

The silent auction helps ensure ALL children enrolled at Pape Ave. Jr. School:

–     can participate in ALL school excursions and events regardless of financial obstacles;

–     have access to safe playground and gym equipment;

–     have access to current technology to support classroom learning,

–     have exposure to enhanced learning programs like Scientists in the School and Artists in the classroom.

Think BIG!!! Do you, or any of your personal or professional contacts have the ability to donate items or services? How about event tickets? Games? Movies? Massages? Haircuts? Lessons? Artwork? Personal Training? Or maybe you have a new, unopened gift or toy that’s looking for a home?
*Please note the Silent Auction is an evening event for Parents, Friends and Neighbours of Pape School. The date is Friday, November 24th from 7-10:30pm – so book a sitter!

Donations may be dropped off at the Pape School office from November 6 – November 15. Please include your contact information and estimated value of the donation attached to the item. Let’s ALL WORK TOGETHER and give a HOOT!

It was so wonderful to see so many people having a great time at the Hoot and Howl on Saturday, despite the rain!

THANK YOU to everyone who helped make our Hoot and Howl fun fair such a success.  Special thanks to Melissa Syme and Elizabeth Dawn Snell (co-chairs of the Hoot), to Laura Reynolds (volunteer coordinator), to Lisa Srisuro (raffle chair), and to Helene Michael and Romi Mainolfi (bake sale coordinators) who put in many, many, MANY hours of hard work ensuring that this year’s Hoot was a success.

Special thanks to all the dedicated volunteers, without whom we couldn’t have a Hoot at all. Despite many other commitments, you showed up and made time to support Pape school and our children. Your help is so appreciated! To the parents, teachers, staff, caretakers, Karen Jordan, Rose Marie Hall, high school volunteers, Pape students, sponsors, the list goes on: We are so lucky to have such a generous and supportive community to help make the Hoot a success.

If anyone has containers from the bake sale that still need to be picked up, you can retrieve them from the tables in the foyer outside the gym.

SILENT AUCTION – Friday November 24th @ 7pm Now that the Hoot is over, we are quickly turning our attention to November’s Silent Auction. It’s shaping up to be a great event that you don’t want to miss – so mark your calendars and book your babysitters!

PARENT CHALLENGE: We need all of your help to collect enough donations for the Silent Auction. We have a group of individuals helping solicit local businesses, BUT can you help add to our donations? Can your work help donate a prize or service? Do you know a company who would like to promote their business or do you frequent a local store or service.

A huge thank you to all of the hard working volunteers who have been planning the Hoot and Howl for the last couple of months.  It is going to be an amazing event this year with the NEW Circus Extravaganza and NEW AND UPDATED MIDWAY GAMES!!!

The Hoot will start at 11am , and run until 3pm at the school, rain or shine!! If you haven’t already volunteered, there are still spots needing volunteers, just look at the SIGN UP TAB on our website.

And don’t forget that we have a Costume Contest for the kiddies, many prizes are up for grabs!

The Bake Sale will be full of amazing treats for both young and old.


The Hoot Raffle is well under way!

Thank you to all Pape Families who have been working hard selling Hoot Raffle tickets!! We have some exciting prizes up for grabs , and with tickets being sold at $2.00 each, it is a great deal!!

And the money raised, goes directly to the school to purchase much needed equipment, technology, as well as enriched arts and science programs, and much, much  more!

Please remember to return your tickets stubs and money as soon as possible to the school.  If you have unsold tickets, please also return as soon as you can as we will redistribute to students looking for additional tickets.

We will be awarding the top classes (1 for Kindergarten, 1 for Grades 1-3, and one for Grades 4-6) with a pizza party (based on sold tickets received by Friday, October 13th)  We will then have another class reward based on total sold tickets ending the following Friday, October 20th.

We will also be rewarding top selling students with prizes, so there are lots up for grabs!

THANKS FOR GIVING A HOOT!!  The raffle draw will be held at the Hoot and Howl at 2pm on Saturday, October 28th.

Welcome Back to Pape School!

Hello Pape Parents,

Welcome back to another fun year at Pape! A special welcome to all of our new Pape families.

The Pape Avenue Parent Council is the force behind many of the school’s famously fun activities. The Hoot n’ Howl fall fair and our amazing Silent Auction are just the beginning. These events, as well as many learning and extra-curricular enrichment initiatives that Parent Council supports (iPads and Chrome Books for classrooms, school busses for field trips, Scientist in the School, Silver Birch Book Club, International Feast, end of year play days, grade 6 graduation, student agendas, and many more) couldn’t happen without help from our amazing community of families.

There are many ways you can help throughout the year to continue to make Pape a great school for our kids. Some volunteer opportunities take only an hour or two! Please check Parent Council’s website often – we will update all our activities, information and volunteer opportunities there –

Parent council meetings are open to everyone. We strongly encourage you to attend. It is a great way to find out what is happening at the school, meet other parents and be a part of the decision-making process. Chinese translation and babysitting are provided. Please note that meetings will be held on Wednesdays this year. Our first meeting is on Wednesday September 27 at 6:30pm in the library. Our principal, Karen Jordan, will be there to introduce herself to new Pape families and share her ideas for the school for the upcoming year. We look forward to seeing you there.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time with Parent Council initiatives so far. The year is already off to a great start, with Hoot n’ Howl and Silent Auction planning well underway.
